Police Blotter of the Day: Cop twice uses Taser on mom at Mississippi middle school
A police officer working as a school resource officer in northern Mississippi twice stunned the mother of a Guntown Middle School pupil with a Taser during a heated argument at the school Wednesday morning.
The woman — identified as Michele Lee Eaton, 39, of Saltillo, about 15 miles north of Tupelo — was arrested on disorderly conduct, public profanity and other charges.
Guntown is where Adam Mayes, who allegedly killed a Tennessee woman and one of her daughters before killing himself earlier this month, was spotted on a convenience store surveillance camera.

Police Blotter of the Day: Driver throws hammer at motorist yakking on cellphone
The man called 911 and reported he was just passed by a car driven by a 44-year-old Waterloo man who suddenly stopped his car in the middle of the roadway, forcing the caller to stop in the roadway, at which point the man in the car began waving a hammer at the other man yelling “get off the phone,” he then allegedly threw the hammer at the caller. …
“These types of conflicts can easily go bad and are best left to authorities,” stated Sheriff Todd Nehls.

Police Blotter of the Day: So drunk he didn’t know he’d been run over by a train
That’s some Night Train hangover.
Thomas J. Boersma apparently passed out on the Canadian Pacific railroad tracks just east of Forest Grove Drive. The conductor of the 76 car freight train said he saw a person laying on the gravel and resting his back on a rail. As the eastbound train approached the conductor said the man did not turn around. The train hit Boersma about three-tenths of a mile east of Forest Grove Drive. …
Police were contacted at about 3:30 a.m. and eventually found Boersma, who was wearing camouflage. Boersma was conscious but was not aware he had just been hit by a train, the police report said. Though Boersma suffered severe injuries to his buttocks and left arm he refused medical treatment, was agitated and combative, the report said.

Police Blotter of the Day: Pet store allegedly cuts off dog’s ear, then glues it back on

Gladys Kapuwai of Honolulu says in a lawsuit that she took Dodo, a Gilzale and Pomeranian-Maltese mix, for grooming last year July and realized a couple of days later that one of Dodo’s ears had been cut.
“When I took her to the vet, the doctor had told me it looked like they tried to glue it back,” Kapuwi said.
“I couldn’t believe what they did. I started crying, because this is our baby, too, you know.”

Police Blotter of the Day: Burglar downloaded child porn, left wallet
Officers found a wallet they believed the burglar had dropped, and detectives went to the address listed, where they said 25-year-old Derek McDine was found hiding in a closet.
He was arrested without further incident on burglary charges, and investigators began examining computers stolen from the accountants.
Detectives said they found evidence of child pornography that McDine is accused of loading onto the computers, and he was also charged with possession of child pornography.

Police Blotter of the Day: Deliver my package or your drivers get it!
A Newark, Ohio, police officer is on administrative leave and faces a disciplinary hearing Feb. 1 for allegedly threatening to ticket FedEx drivers because he missed a delivery at his home.
NBC station WCMH of Columbus reports:
[Officer Bobby] Hartless was waiting for a FedEx delivery at his home Tuesday, Jan. 3. He was not on duty that day.
Hartless missed the doorbell and tried to flag down the driver.
He contacted FedEx and was told the package wouldn’t be delivered that day.

A man pulled who was pulled over for a traffic violation in North Carolina was found this week with a gun in his jail cell — a big gun that authorities believe he hid in his rectum.
Deputies said the man — who claimed he was disabled and couldn’t walk — was searched and strip-searched both at a hosital and at the Onslow County, N.C., jail before he was placed into a holding cell. Jailers even made him perform what they call a “squat and cough” procedure.
No gun.
Only later did the .38-caliber revolver — 10 inches long, with a 4½-inch barrel — turn up.
Ward was taken back to the hospital Friday for examination of “possible injuries that may have occurred” to his rectum.

Police Blotter of the Day: Suicide by crossbow? Police say it can’t be ruled out.
A 53-year-old Michigan man was found dead Tuesday morning with an arrow in his chest.
The man, Chris Martin Allen, was found lying in the corner of a parking lot in Howell, about 30 miles east of Lansing. The arrow was protruding from the left of his chest, and a crossbow was found next to his body, police said.
The police report said investigators considered Allen’s death a homicide, but Police Chief George Basar told NBC station WILX of Lansing that suicide couldn’t be ruled out.
“It’s physically possible,” Basar said. “We have discussed that, and it’s physically possible.”
